Dynamic flutist Mitzy Nonaka brings enthusiasm to a variety of genres, with a focus on orchestral performance and contemporary chamber music. Cofounding the Mosaic Flute Duo with Natasha Loomis, they strive to bring to the music of living composers to the forefront, commissioning works by young composers in addition to performances of canon pieces. Their 2017-18 “Pathways” program was featured in recital at the Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention, the Juilliard Composer’s Concert, Silvana Harlem, and other venues across the East Coast. As an orchestral flutist, Mitzy has performed with Bergen Symphony as principal flute for several seasons, featured as a soloist in Salieri’s Concerto in C Major for Flute and Oboe in 2018. In addition to other freelance orchestral work, she has earned a place on the Terra Haute Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and the Boise Philharmonic sublists, toured the Yucutan Penninsula with the OperaMaya Festival Orchestra, and recorded under Albany Records with the New York Light Opera Orchestra.
